“U” Knitting

Knitting a "U" is relatively simple, but there are some tricks. One edge is connected, while the opposite edge is open.

W/Y CO

With W/Y, CO in FNR on both beds. Hang the comb & weights. K an inch or 2. Break the yarn with the tail below the beds. There is no need for the W/Y to have a permanent CO. Simply K the zigzag R, hang the comb, weights, and K.

Ravel Cord

To separate the W/Y from the MC, a R of ravel cord must be knitted on both beds. Instead of an extremely long ravel cord, it's easier and better to have 2 ravel cords: 1 on the MB, and 1 on the RB.

Thread the carriages with the ravel cord. Set the carriages for circular knitting. K 1 R. Only the MB will K. Depending upon the type of ravel cord, either cut the cord or unthread it from the carriages. The tail must be below both beds.

CO for “U” Connected on R U Right

With MC, "E-wrap" CO only on the RB. To prevent the RB ndls from getting in the way, place the RB ndls into "B" position. Working from right to left, "E-wrap" CO on the MB ndls. Push the Left Part button on both carriages. Slide the carriages to the left.

“U” Knitting

1. Set the carriages as follows and K 2 Rs.
MB: Push the Left Part button
RB: Push the Right Part button

2. Set the carriages as follows and K 2 Rs.
MB: Push the Right Part button
RB: Push the Left Part button

Continue these 2 steps, changing the settings when COL.
CO for “U” Connected on L U Left

Working from right to left, with MC, "E-wrap" CO on the RB. To prevent the RB ndls from getting in the way, place the RB ndls into "B" position. "E-wrap" CO on the MB ndls.

“U” Knitting

1. Set the carriages as follows and K 2 Rs.
MB: Push the Right Part button
RB: Push the Left Part button

2. Set the carriages as follows and K 2 Rs.
MB: Push the Left Part button
RB: Push the Right Part button

Continue these 2 steps, changing the settings when COR.
