Short Rowing in Slip & Tuck
Slip Method
This method is more time consuming
than regular S/R techniques. However, if you are constantly S/R-ing
the same ndls (sideways knitted skirts), this method may be what
you need. The best benefit of this process is that the ndls are
selected for you. Because you are knitting a "Slip" pattern,
this method is visually opposite of what you’re used to seeing.
The ndls being "held" are in "B" position, while
the ndls being knitted are in "D" position. A special
pattern is also needed.
Tuck Method
Here’s a real sneaky work
around. You will need to place any other sections that are normally
in "Hold" onto W/Y before you begin. Now you can pull
all those ndls that are to be "Held" into "E"
position. Don’t set the carriage to "Hold". All
those ndls in "E" will knit stockinet. K only 1 R. Pull
those same ndls to "E", plus any others that need to be
held. K 1 more R. Continue this process, R by R, until everything
is in "E" position. Set the carriage to "Normal",
and K 2 Rs over everything. Remove on W/Y. Now you can use any Cut
’N Sew method, without worrying about slicing into a wrapped
St.
The Pattern
Since S/R requires 2 Rs to complete
each section, the pattern MUST duplicate each R. This can be incorporated
into the pattern as a whole, as in figure 1, or by using the double
high variation key on your KM, and the pattern in figure 2.
