Easy CO Comb For Ribbed Bands

Most front bands consist of only a few Sts. Instead of cutting up your smallest CO comb to fit, here’s a sneaky way to achieve the same goal. After knitting the zigzag R, hang the 2 edge wires shaped like the number “7”. Connect these by hanging 1 large ribber weight through both of the lower weight loops. Sometimes the wires may cross each other on the zigzag R, as in the illustration.

CO Comb

This method is best suited for use between 10–30 Sts. For anything smaller than 10 Sts, it is better to use only 1 of the “7-wires”. If your knitting requires more than 30 Sts, there are CO combs as small as 40 Sts, available for this purpose.

This technique is ideal for knitting those vertical buttonholes, too. Since the “7-wires” are being used as the initial CO Comb, you can easily separate them, and hang a small ribber weight on each one.
