Hiding
Yarn Tails In Multi-Color Ribbing
This is particularly useful when
you’re knitting FNR collars with a contrasting border. Because
every edge of the collar is exposed, there doesn’t seem to
be a convenient place to hide the yarn tails. Next time, try this
easy solution.
Procedure
K the zigzag R with your contrast
color. Working from above the beds, insert the ribber work hook
between the beds. Pick up the tail, and pull it up between the beds.
Lay the tail over the zigzag yarn between the beds. Bring to "E"
position all ndls affected by the yarn tail. K 1 R. This process
encases the tail into the ribbing. When changing colors, cut the
yarn just knitted. Lay the tail across the knitting. K 1 R with
the next color. Now, lay the tail of this color. Always lay a tail
over its same color zigzag.
Use this technique sparingly.
In other words, do not change yarns every 2 Rs, a million times.
By definition, the edge that encases the yarn tails is thicker than
the opposite edge. |
